Weekly Letter #1 · August 20, 2026
What’s Your Next Right Thing?
Progress does not always begin with feeling motivated. Sometimes it begins by taking the next right step anyway.
Yesterday was about shaking off rejection. Today was almost the opposite: things were moving so slowly that I joked I wished I could get rejected.
I had just finished lunch and went for another walk. Honestly, I was not feeling particularly fired up—and that became the lesson.
The standard cannot be a feeling
Better Today Than Yesterday cannot depend on whether I feel motivated every minute. Feelings move around. Some days bring momentum; other days bring silence, delay, or another no.
The useful question is smaller and more dependable: what is the next right thing I can do from here?
Make the next step visible
The next right thing rarely needs to solve the whole week. It only needs to move the work, the relationship, the habit, or the responsibility one honest step forward.
- 1.Name the next action clearly.
- 2.Make it small enough to begin now.
- 3.Do it before waiting for a better mood.
This week’s reminder
You do not have to manufacture a breakthrough. Do the next right thing, learn from it, and let tomorrow begin from a better place than today did.
What’s your next right thing?
